Nitrogen: N1 (Trichocereus bridgesii)

Nitrogen: N1 (Trichocereus bridgesii)

The N1 clone comes from our friend Nitrogen. The pics were all provided by Nitrogen and he used this plant in numerous cross. It is a Trichocereus bridgesii with a massive spination and beautiful golden/orange spines.

The plants I saw have 6 ribs and 3 – 5 long and sharp spines that you really don´t want to get too close to. I am still trying to get flower pics of the N1 and I´ll update this post as soon as I am able to get some. This clone has a much more massive appearance than many other plants with Tr. bridgesii genetics.

In 2012, Nitrogen used the N1 in the following crosses:

TPM x N1

Psycho0 x N1

N1 x TPQC

Nitrogen: TPC (Trichocereus peruvianus Cristata / Crest)

Nitrogen: TPC (Trichocereus peruvianus Cristata / Crest)

This is another plant that was grown by our friend Nitrogen, who used this plant to produce quite a few hybrids. The seeds that he harvested from this plant were given away to friends and other growers and I can´t wait to see more of them in the near future. This plant was so mutated that it even produced mutated flowers. It´s rare that mutated cacti are able to produce flowers. And not only did this one flower, but also in the most spectacular way.

As you can see on the pics, the plant can grow crested and monstrose at the same time. In 2012, Nitrogen used a pollen mix of Tom Juuls Giant, SS02 and a SS02 hybrid with Trichocereus pachanoi to pollinate this plant.

Where to get cuttings or seeds of a TPC?

There are many different types of TPM. It only means „Trichocereus peruvianus cristata“. But there only are very few cuttings and/or seeds grown from this plant around on the market. Nitrogen gave all of the seeds aways for free, which is why he feels disgusted by the fact that some people put plants grown from his gifted seed on eBay. If you own one of them, take cuttings and give them away. Because that´s what Nitros 2012 giveaway was all about. Sharing the genetics of this awesome plant!

Nitrogen: TPM (Trichocereus peruvianus Monstrose)

Nitrogen: TPM (Trichocereus peruvianus Monstrose)

This plant comes from a SAB member called Nitrogen. He earned himself a great reputation by producing some of the most kickass San Pedro hybrids in the past 10 years. Some of his mother plants are the TPM, the TPC or the TPQC.

The TPM constantly switches between monstrose and non-monstrose growth, what gives it a truly unique look. This type of TPM is one of a kind, as it is known to pass down the monstrose gene to its F1 offspring. From all the seeds I´ve grown, I had a 50% mutation rate. And since it is rare that mutants produce mutant offspring, it´s definitely an amazing plant.

Nitrogen produced numerous hybrids with this plant, of which I´ll show some of them here.

Trichocereus Lumberjack Nitrogen 3

The LUMBERJACK clone or LUMBERJACKUS is a rare and sought after Trichocereus hybrid. Its actually a Trichocereus bridgesii with very distinct and distinct traits. It has a very typical double-pair spination and usually grows into a very fat plant that flowers abundantly.

The plant was originally found in a Lumberjack store in Sacramento, California. It is believed to be a hybrid between Trichocereus bridgesii and Trichocereus peruvianus. But it´s also possible that this is actually a pure botanical Trichocereus bridgesii, without any other species involved. Plants in nature can look quite distinctly and unfortunately it´s not possible to guess the parents of a certain plant.

The LUMBERJACK clone is really rare and the only grower I know of that is selling seed or cuttings is misplant, who uses his mother plant to make multiple crosses per year.

The plant should be treated just like every other Trichocereus bridgesii and is a very hardy plant.

Those pics are from Misplant´s mother plants. Copyright: Misplant.net. You can buy seeds of the Lumberjack clone on Misplant´s homepage!
